Pulses took centre stage at the Food Matters Live exhibition held from Nov 22nd – 24th at Excel London.  To celebrate United Nations’ International Year of Pulses 2016 (IYP), the event showcased the versatility of Pulses in two cookery demonstrations which took place in their “Catering for Health” theatre. The demonstrations featured chef and writer Jenny Chandler, the UN Special European Ambassador for IYP 2016 who prepared a series of quick, easy and tasty Pulse recipes.

Additionally there were two IYP presentations. The first was aimed at food manufacturers interested in innovation who want to learn about reformulation to include healthy and sustainable Pulse ingredients in their products. The second highlighted to Dieticians and Nutritionists the health, nutrition and well-being benefits of pulse consumption.

The event culminated in a Pulse Canape & drinks reception where guests and industry were able to mix, mingle and get enthused about the new opportunities presented by greater inclusion of pulses in products and diets.

There were approximately 15,000 visitors, 600 exhibitors and 400 expert speakers.
